Hello everyone,
The first month of 2019 is already over! It seemed to pass by in a whirlwind, but it was also busy and fairly productive, especially with regards to reading, and with my blog.
At the beginning of the year I set myself a Goodreads target of 50 books, and in January I managed to finish five, which makes it reassuring to think I am a tenth of the way there!
But for me the best thing about the books I read was that they all came from different genres. One of my targets for 2019 is to vary my reading a lot more, so I think I have made a good start! Even better, each book so far has been highly enjoyable to read.
Here are the five books I read in January:

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I Am Watching You ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
Swimming Lessons ⭐⭐⭐.5
The Girl In The Tower (Goodreads) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I also posted a discussion about what makes an effective plot twist, and more recently a poem called ‘The Book Tower‘, which described having such a long TBR.
Elsewhere, it has been an excellent month for my blog. I don’t often talk about my stats, but ever since my review of The Miniaturist was featured on Twitter by the amazing Write Reads, the level of interaction has increased so much and I am incredibly grateful.
It has enabled me to discover even more wonderful bloggers, so I would like to thank our community for just being magnificent. I was overwhelmed by all the positive comments I received on my ‘blog day’!
As for my writing, I am slowly making progress. The editing for my WIP is not far from being done, although there is still lots to do overall. I often wish there were more hours in the day for me to get it all finished!
That is everything for now. I hope you all have a fantastic February!
Happy reading 🙂
Glad to see that you had a good month and are managing to stick to your goal of reading a variety of genres! I am also trying to do the same but failed this month, let’s see how February goes. Hope next month is a great reading month for you, Stephen!

Great post, Stephen! I love the idea of reading a bigger variety of books; I think I’m making that a goal for myself, too – particularly in regards to non-fiction books! It’s good to see you’re on track with that goal.
Also Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is one of my all-time favourite classics and I’m really glad you enjoyed it!
