The Mystery Blogger Award

Hello everyone,

A while ago, I was tagged by Kat for this interesting award. Kat is one of the kindest and loveliest book bloggers I know, so do give her a follow if you haven’t already!

I love the name of this tag. Am I mysterious? I’m not sure, but you will certainly know a little bit more about me by the end of the post…

The award was created by Okoto @ OkotoEnigmasBlog. Other than that, it is a mystery…

Three Things About Me

  1. I really enjoy taking long walks and exploring new places. They make me feel peaceful and they help me clear my mind of any anxiety or negative thoughts. Recently I have gone for even more walks due to the quarantine.
  2. I am often told that I have a very good memory. I certainly do for some things, such as names and dates, football/soccer, things I’ve done in my life and at work, and conversations I have had.
I only wish I had a better memory for academic subjects. I am truly awful at revision, and quite often I read something and I forget it almost immediately.
  3. I really like doing jigsaw puzzles and have reacquainted myself with them this year since the quarantine. I also love Sudoku puzzles and have done since I was a child.

Link to my favourite post

It is very difficult to choose just one favourite post, but I enjoy writing book reviews the most so I shall go for my review of The Corset by Laura Purcell. It was a lot of fun to write and I was very happy with how it turned out.

Questions from Kat

  1. How do you organise your bookshelves? (Colour, Alphabetically, by Genre?) And what do you think it says about you?
I like to organise my bookshelves alphabetically and I do that with most of my books. However, I also currently have a shelf for non-fiction books, and another one for my favourite authors. I think that says that I like things to be arranged in an orderly fashion!
  2. If you could partner up with/be best friends with any fictional character who would you choose and why?
I have always said that I would probably get along well with Luna Lovegood and we would be very good friends. Although she is much more fanciful than I am, I still think we would have a lot in common.
  3. What was the last book you read that completely captured you, drew you in and made you feel incredibly strongly about it. The book that you will forever recommend to everyone because it is just beautiful or powerful?
This would absolutely have to be Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. It is a book that totally consumed me from the first page to the last and made me feel emotionally connected in a way that only a handful of books can do. The writing was also breathtakingly good. For my full thoughts, see my review.
  4. Why do you read? What is it about reading that makes you love it and spend hours on it?
I read primarily because I love stories. I love to be swept away into a fictional world or the mind of a character, and be excited by a thrilling or captivating plot. I really enjoy learning, too, and I gain so much of that from reading books. Reading enables me to experience a whole range of new things, including thoughts and emotions.
  5. What three fictional characters combined make up your personality? Do you have the stubborn brains of Hermione Granger, the loyalty of Samwise Gamgee, and the kind nature of Newt Scamander? Or are you witty, flirty and full of charm instead?
I find this a really hard one to answer. It is difficult for me to compare my personality to fictional characters, but if I was to use three words to describe my positive traits, I would say kind, thoughtful, and hardworking.

  1. I’m always in awe of people who actually organize their books according to an actual system! For me, I just organize by hardcover vs paperback, and then by height size. And then after that I just do whatever makes most sense to me. By series? Sure! Color coordinated? Okay! I really like how my shelves are organized but there’s no actual system that I can say that I use!
And I love your answer to why you read! I love the question too. I think there’s something so wonderful about gaining something from a book, whether that’s through learning something new, by getting to see through someone else’s perspective, or even just the wonderful feelings that a story can inspire within me. It’s why I read, and why I’ll keep on reading.

    1. I think it’s really cool that you have a spontaneous way of arranging your shelves! I’m sure they are really pretty.
And thank you so much! I agree, there is so much to gain from books and that’s why I spend so much of my time with them. Thank you very much for the comment, Malka! 🙂
