Kindle Vocabulary Builder #5

Hello everyone,

One of the fun and perhaps lesser known features of a Kindle is the Vocabulary Builder, which is a perfect tool for people like me who enjoy learning new words and vocabulary!

It allows you to store all of the words that have looked up the definition for while reading. They automatically appear there once highlighted, and you can review, study, and master the words at a later date.

Here are eight more of the words the I have added to the Vocabulary Builder – some of them are very random! Definitions from Oxford Dictionaries

Word: Chalupa
Definition: A small light boat or canoe

Word: Poniard
Definition: A small, slim dagger, historically worn by noblemen

Word: Caulk
Definition: A waterproof filler and sealant, used in building work and repairs.

Word: Habiliments
Definition: An archaic word for clothing

Word: Ensorcell
Definition: To enchant or fascinate, originating from the French word for ‘sorcerer’

Word: Limn
Definition: To depict or describe something in a painting or in words

Word: Stertorous
Definition: A word to describe noisy or laboured breathing.

Word: Decal
Definition: A design prepared on special paper for durable transfer on to another surface such as glass or porcelain.

Have you come across any of these words? Are any them new to you? Do let me know in the comments!

Happy reading 🙂
