Hello everyone,
The end of an eventful month! During August I returned to blogging after a two-month absence, celebrated my birthday with a nice afternoon tea, and edged closer to achieving my Goodreads target.
As for books, I finished five in August. All except one were over 400 pages, which is longer than my usual reads. I finished my Harry Potter reread, and enjoyed my first five-star book since May.
Here are the books I read during August:
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Familiars ⭐⭐⭐.5
Watching You ⭐⭐
A Different Time (blog tour coming up!)
The Muse ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
My writing is coming along fairly well. I am now about 12,000 words into my current WIP, and at the moment I am trying to get myself to write some of it every day, even if it is only 100 words. I think the plot outline is very good; the key will be how I execute my ideas on the page.
Also in August, I took a little time off work to enjoy some days out in several places in the UK, and I made some good progress in my attempts to teach myself how to play the piano. I am a total beginner, and learning means a lot to me. It is a great feeling when I play a tune correctly!
To finish, here are two of my favourite blog posts from the month of August:
Kristin put together a fantastic list of books that contain art and artists. I love books like this, and she helped add more to my TBR!
I have recently discovered Caitlin‘s blog and like many others, I love her posts! She wrote this thought-provoking post about blog hopping.
Have a lovely September 🙂
I have The Muse to read – glad you liked it so much!

Wow! You are teaching yourself to play the piano? Amazing! I am really a sucker when it comes to musical instruments… not only can’t I read music (scores) but also I cannot move my hands simultaneously lol I now have a great respect for you, Stephen!

Thanks, Noriko! Yes I am teaching myself and I find that I really enjoy it. I can barely read music either lol, but hopefully I can learn!
And I’m sure you’re not as bad as you say you are!

Trust me, I am such a rubbish at musical instruments lol My brother was (I wonder if he still is) good at playing the guitar though!

It sounds like August has been kind to you & that you working well on balancing with your WIP too. Wonderful!
I almost picked The Muse up at the library the other day, but hesitated… Maybe I should reconsider that.
A happy September to you!

Thanks, Amy! Enjoy your Harry Potter reread. The Muse is one of the best books I have read this year, and The Familiars is really good except for the ending 🙂
