Hello everyone,
I hope you had an excellent weekend. We are now a third of the way through 2019, so it is time for an update on my Goodreads challenge progress!
I set myself a target of 50 books this year. Maybe I could have aimed slightly higher, but I did not want to put too much pressure on myself. And so far I have read 20 books, which according to Goodreads is four ahead of schedule.
The most pleasing thing about my reading challenge this year is that so far I have read from a much wider range of genres. In 2018 thrillers or mysteries accounted for a lot of my books, but this time I have balanced it out with more fantasy, classics, and a couple of non-fiction reads.
Here are the books I have read in 2019:
I am quite happy with 20 books so far, although I feel like I would have read more if it hadn’t been for a combination of a lack of time, and the fact I was ill throughout March.
However, the books on my upcoming TBR all look amazing and I can’t wait to get started on them. There are lots of new releases that I am so excited to read, so the next few months look very promising!
For this reason, I am expecting to make more progress with my Goodreads challenge by the time I post my next update!
Are you taking part in the 2019 Goodreads Challenge? How are getting on? Let me know in the comments!
Happy reading π
I’ve read 34 out of 80. I managed 91 last year which felt like a bit of a fluke but I’m 8 ahead of schedule so who knows? Having a great year so far!

You are doing really well! I think you could definitely get close to your total from last year.
I have sent you a friend request on Goodreads π

Congrats β you’re going so well!! I also can’t read when I am ill, and it’s the worst. To know you have ‘all this time’, but to not fill it with books seems like a waste.

Thank you, Meeghan! Absolutely, it feels like you maybe should be spending that time reading, but you just can’t!

Oh my God, you just need 30 to finish, congrats. That’s job well done. π π Most of the books you’ve read are on my TBR as well and hopefully, I get to read them this year.*fingers crossed* I’m not really good at following my TBR.

Thank you, Lili. I decided that 2019 would be the year I got through a lot of my TBR, but the number of new releases from my favourite authors etc have led me astray! Good luck with your reading. π

Hehe, I can understand. Last Dec. 2018, I made a list of series, old series I would read this year but my God, I haven’t read any of them. π

Great job, Stephen and nice selection. I have a couple of those on my TBR! Have a lovely week. You’ve got that 50 no problem. π

You’re doing so great, Stephen, congrats!! And I told myself I would read The Girl in the Tower and the Wind Witch before winter ended, but now it looks like they’re going to be spring/summer reads. π

Oops!! I mean Winter of the Witch, not the Wind Witch. π

I went for 12 books. I got that in Feb/March. I should have reached higher also.

Well done on reaching your target. Do you think you might set yourself a higher one for the rest of the year? π

Congratulations! I’m really impressed that your managing to keep up a range of genres, I always get hooked on one for weeks at a time.

Thank you, Louise! I read a lot of similar genres last year, so I made it one of my goals for 2019 to read more of a range, and so far it is going well. π

Wow, 50 books! I’ve never gone past 30. I didn’t make my reading goal (24) last year, so I put a conservative number (20) this year. …Only I’m halfway through already and I could definitely have made a more aggressive goal.

Good luck with your target, Kamilla! I can understand why you went a bit lower this year, but you are doing really well so far. π

I have only just joined Goodreads so ago new to me and I haven’t yet updated my reads so far. I’m using the bookriot read harder challenge to encourage myself to read something different but am obviously 4 months behind! Task 1 is epistolary novel so I have ordered Obama’s book of letters to his daughter “Of Thee I Sing”. I’ll try catch up with you!
