Poem – A Bookish Hype

Hello everyone,

It is time for my next bookish poem! This week I have had a few discussions on my blog about books that receive a lot of hype. These books often cause us a dilemma – should we read them? What if we end up not liking them?

I have decided to create a poem based around that, in which I eventually decide to read the book and am desperate to like it despite my high expectations – maybe it means I might one day read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo!!

Here is the poem – I hope you like it!

I am seeing it almost everywhere
Scattered through my timeline
Everyone seems to have read it
It feels like I’ve fallen behind

The question hangs forever in the air
As each glowing review lands in my way:
Should I dive into the heart of the fame
Or wait for the hype to slowly fade?

The blurb fuels my spiralling doubts
This genre is not my chosen one
Yet this endless love makes me wonder,
Am I missing out on all the fun?

At last, the book arrives in my hands
As silent curiosity finally prevails
I enter with sky-high expectations,
Determined it won’t end up a fail

Did you like this poem? I would love to know your thoughts on it, and on hyped books in general! Let me know in the comments!
