Hello everyone,
I have been looking around for some fun tags to do, and I came across this one. The rules are very simple; just answer all six questions!
1 – WHO? Who is an author you’d love to have a one on one with?
The answer to this one has to be J.K. Rowling. I would have about a million questions to ask and so much that I would like to discuss! As the author of two of my favourite book series, it would be great to learn from her about plot- and character-building.
It would be also be interesting to know more about how she approaches writing different genres as well as screenplays. And on the subject of screenplays, I would love to know how she plans to resolve the Harry Potter timeline after the recent Fantastic Beasts film!
2 – WHAT? What genre or style do you most gravitate to?
I mostly read books in the mystery/thriller genre, although I am starting to make some good progress towards making my reading more varied.
When I visit a library or bookstore, that is the section I usually head to first, and a lot of the books that are currently on my TBR are in this genre.
3 – WHERE? Where do you prefer to read?
I mostly read at home, either while sitting in a chair or tucked up in bed, almost always with a cup of tea beside me.
During the summer, I also like to read outdoors. I am lucky enough to work at the University of Bristol, which has a large and lovely garden that is the perfect place to sit and read a book.
4 – WHEN? What time of the day do you prefer to read?
I do most of my reading later in the evenings, which is when I have the most free time. However, I also read through most of my lunch breaks at work, which is from 1pm-2pm.
5 – WHY? Why is your favourite book your favourite book?
My favourite books are definitely the Harry Potter series. I grew up reading them and watching the films, and developed a love and a connection with the story that I don’t think will ever be replicated.
I have reread the books numerous times, and I plan to do so again later on this year!
BONUS! How do you go about selecting what you’ll read next?
There are actually a lot of things I consider when I am choosing my next read, but the two main factors are my most-anticipated books, and the ones which I have borrowed from the library for the longest time.
When one of my favourite authors releases a new book, it goes straight to the top of my TBR pile. There are also times where I feel like reading a particular genre, or simply trying out something different.
I think I might write an entire discussion post dedicated to this question, because choosing which book to read next has turned into a surprisingly complex process!!
If you would like to do this tag, then consider yourself tagged! If you know of any other fun book tags, it would be great to find out about them, too.
Happy reading 🙂
Great post, Stephen! I can definitely understand why you would choose to have a one to one with J.K. Rowling- I would also have lots of question to ask 🙂

What a great tag! I agree that JK Rowling would be awesome to have a one-on-one with. I’m on the 6th book in my re-read of the series and I always forget how many great details are in the books!
