Top Kindle Highlights of 2018 – Part One (Blogmas #15)

Hello everyone,

It is only six days until Christmas, and I  hope you are all having an excellent week! Today I would like to share some of my favourite quotes that I came across in the books I have read on my Kindle in 2018. There are a fair few, so I have decided to split this into two posts 🙂

I still mostly read physical books, but one of the great things about a Kindle is the ability to highlight passages and make notes. They are also saved on Goodreads, which is even better!

When I read books, I love exploring the writing style and finding interesting, insightful, or inspirational lines. Here are some of the ones that stood out this year…

I definitely felt attracted to some people, and I liked the idea of being with someone, but the actual mechanics of it didn’t much suit my talents.
Turtles All The Way Down by John Green

What I love about science is that as you learn, you don’t really get answers. You just get better questions.

How you spend five years going to the same place (school) every day, and then it’s over, you never go there again. Almost as if it never existed at all.
Friend Request by Laura Marshall

‘Stories are the only thing in this world that are real. Everything else is just a dream.’
Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell

‘”Fine.” It’s an automatic response, a bit like when someone asks how you are and really, you could be on your last legs but you still say you’re fine.’
The Girl Who Lied by Sue Fortin

‘Ava and I are watching the first Harry Potter movie, which we’ve seen a million times before.’
My Mother’s Secret by Sanjida Kay – I just found this one relatable 🙂

I think about how emotion is energy and energy has to go somewhere, or is that false science?
Your Turn To Die by Sue Wallman

‘You can love someone so much, he thought. But you can never love people as much as you can miss them.’
An Abundance Of Katherines by John Green

Put a book down and it will wait for you forever; pay attention to them and they always love you back.
An Abundance Of Katherines by John Green

It’s true that comparison is the surest route to unhappiness
No Further Questions by Gillian McAllister

I would love to know your thoughts on some of these quotes! A few of them might seem a bit random! Did you come across any memorable quotes in 2018? Let me know in the comments!

Happy reading 🙂

  1. I love all those John Green quotes! I must say that I always feel like highlighting nearly everything whenever I’m reading his books because he is just that kind of author with memorable expressions and thoughts that you can’t overlook. Great post, Stephen!
