Monthly Wrap-Up – November 2018

Hello everyone,

My goodness, we are so close to the end of 2018 and it seems to have gone by very quickly! How has that happened? Christmas is coming up and I am planning to publish a post almost every day in December.

Overall, November was a fantastic month. It was my best and most productive month so far as a blogger, so I would like to begin by saying thank you to everyone in this wonderful community. I have felt flattered by the fact that some of my posts have been shared on social media, and the amount of interaction I have had has been priceless.

As for reading, I managed to finish four books during November, one of which was a memorable buddy read with my friend Gem. Together, we read How To Be Brave by Louise Beech, and it was an immensely powerful read that had a great effect on both of us.

Here are all of the books I read during November:

Also during November, I posted a discussion about the process of reading and reviewing books, that gained some very interesting responses. Then, I wrote a poem called ‘A Literary Ride‘, for which I was given lots of really lovely feedback.

All the same, it is becoming a bigger challenge to balance my blog with working full time, so I plan to take a look at how I should do things and what to prioritise going forward. I love writing blog posts, but I need to work out the best way to keep going and ensure I stay motivated.

Anyway, my writing during November went well, even if it was slow progress. I reached the end of my WIP, which reached a total of just over 67,000 words, and have begun editing. It is a great moment when you get to write ‘The End’!

To finish, I would like to share a couple of posts from the blogging community, that I enjoyed reading last month:

Why I Started Reading, a very personal and relatable post by Zenobia, who has recently started her blog.

5 Myths About Writing Fiction, an interesting list put together by NS Ford.

That is everything! Thank you for reading, and I hope you have an excellent December!

  1. I’m glad to hear that you’re enjoying blogging, you write a lot of great and insightful posts! Balancing work and blogging is definitely difficult, it’s become significantly harder for me to read and write juggling working at a uni full time and starting grad school, but I love the book blogging community so much I can’t stay away for too long. 🙂

  2. It looks like you had a great reading and blogging month! I hope the books you choose to read in December are just as good, if not better. Also, congratulations on finishing your WIP, that is an amazing achievement!

  3. Thanks for featuring my post, glad you liked it! 🙂
I know what you mean about the balancing act, I’m keeping my blog going in addition to working on my novel, and actually working (part time) and I have young kids. So far it’s going OK, the biggest challenge is keeping up with everyone else’s blogs as I really want to be interacting! Having to be quite selective about whose I will take the time to comment on… yours are definitely worth reading though.
